Simple ways to optimize your organization’s LinkedIn profile

Simple ways to optimize your organization’s LinkedIn profile

LinkedIn boasts of a whopping 90 million users and is one of the leading business-oriented social media sites. For business professionals, LinkedIn has become an ideal tool for staying connected to their network.

During last November, LinkedIn introduced an upgrade to LinkedIn Company Pages making it a powerful tool for managing your company’s digital presence – more so, if you are a B2B marketing company. This has proved a primer to help you plan and exploit some of the powerful new features on LinkedIn Company Pages.

However, one of the criticisms of the new version is there is lack of integration between the new features and the old. The new ones all live under one tab. You can upload a logo, a paragraph detailing your business, list contacts and attach their profiles. Other legacy features include the provision to post job listings.

Furthermore, LinkedIn automatically displays the profiles of employees and new recruits. This can be a fabulous tool because users can quickly discover the people with the “right” job titles at companies they are targeting.

One of the major new features of LinkedIn Company Pages is the imaginative addition of the Products & Services tab. Your company can now list each of your products or services, upload an exciting 100 x 80 pixel image and crisp description of each, and create a bullet list of attributes.

Please know that with the aid of a simple admin tool, you can upload three whopping 640 x 220 banners (JPEG, GIF or PNG, no Flash) that rotate on the page and link to specific URLs that you designate. Obviously, these can become landing pages specially set up to generate leads.

Please remember that you can now also embed a YouTube video on the Overview page and each of the individual Products & Services pages you create. When done exquisitely, video is a powerful tool to convey your message to customers. You can use different videos on every page and embedding them is as simple as copying and pasting a URL from YouTube.

The most attractive new feature is the ability to solicit recommendations from your customers for each of your products or services. This works just like the Recommendations feature does on an individual LinkedIn profile. You can take the time to edit the default message when asking for an endorsement.

Audiences is where LinkedIn Company Pages turns powerful. LinkedIn allows you to completely customize how you present your products and services to distinct audience segments.

  • Engage your audiences with an attention-grabbing cover image
  • Do not forget to add a careers section
  • Your company page must be accessible
  • Add spice to your ‘About Us’ section
  • Create and share imaginative content
  • Develop a company showcase page as an extension of your company page
